N.W.AIn 1989 they dropped the album

Straight Outta Compton.

The streets of Los Angeles would never be the same. West Coast music would be on the map forever. I was a freshman in High School and could not believe what I was hearing.

Nothin’ like East Coast Rappers the beats and lyrics were straight up hardcore. Never had I heard anything about dope deals, ho’s, 8-balls and violence the way they spit it.

N.W.A., Straight outta Compton Niggaz With Attitude’s the acronym for N.W.A had two center core members who were

  • Dr. Dre’ – (Andre Young) – DJ/Producer

  • Yella – (Antoine Carraby) – DJ/Producer

Dr. Dre’ and Yella had already made successful moves with World Class Wreckin’ Cru’. Joined by two rappers MC Ren (Lorenzo Patterson) and Ice Cube (O’Shea Jackson) the group set out to change the entire west coast.

Dre’ and Ice Cube began to do some writing for Eazy E. (Eric Wright), the former Drug dealer who founded Ruthless Records with the money. The song “Boyz-N-The Hood” was a song written for Ruthless artist to launch the anthem for Ruthless Records. Now here is where history was made. The artist at the label rejected the song. Holy Moly!! Eazy E decided to rap the song himself and “Niggaz With Attitude’s” were born. At first the boyz were just a posse of friends who called themselves “NWA And The Posse”. [ Nwa Rappers ]

Half of the group was gone when the historical album “Straight Outta Compton” hit the streets. You know you have something that will make history when the F.B.I. gets a little pissed about a song.

“Fuck The Police” will forever be in the Hip Hop history books. We all know that Dr. Dre’ and Ice Cube launched multi-million dollar solo careers. However, they were still part of the hardest hip hop group in California. Hip Hop Music Classic posse N.W.A
